COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION SCALE, WEIGHING, CARGO/PALLET

The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies.

1.   SCOPE.  This Commercial Item Description (CID) covers the characteristics for a rugged, environmentally protected, commercial type weighing scale with a nominal inaccuracy of +/-

0.1% of applied load. The scales covered by this CID are intended for weighing various items

found in a warehouse as well as palletized cargo.

2.  CLASSIFICATION

2.1  The weighing systems shall be of the following types: Type I:   11,000lb. pallet scale

Type III:   5,000lb. cargo scale

2.2   Part or Identifying Number (PIN).  The following part or identifying numbering

procedure  is  for  government  purposes  and  does  not  constitute  a  requirement  for  the

contractor.

Example of reference part number:  AA50721-1

Type: 1-Type I - 11,000lb. Pallet scale

Type:3  - Type III - 5,000lb. Cargo scale

CID Number

PIN AA50721-1 would identify a Type I - 11,000lb. pallet scale.
