6. PACKAGING
6.1 Preservation, packing, and marking. For acquisition purposes, the products shall be preserved, packed, and marked as specified in the acquisition order (see7.4(c)).
6.2 Overseas packaging. Movable components of the balance shall be secured in a manner that will prevent movement or damage during shipment and storage. The balances shall be packed in a fiberboard box conforming to ASTM D 5118/D 5118M, "Standard Practice for Fabrication of Fiberboard Shipping Boxes" (DoD adopted). The box shall be closed, waterproofed, and reinforced in accordance with ASTM D 1974/D 1974M, "Methods of Closing, Sealing, and Reinforcing Fiberboard Boxes" (DoD adopted).
6.3 Overseas marking. Marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-129, "Standard Practice for Military Marking", or FED-STD-123, "Marking for Shipment (Civil Agencies)", as applicable.
6.4 Domestic packaging, packing, palletization, and marking. Packaging, packing, palletization and marking shall be in accordance with ASTM D 3951, "Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging" (DoD adopted).
7. NOTES
7.1 Part or identification number (PIN). The following part or identification numbering procedure is for government purposes and does not constitute a requirement for the contractor.
