3.2 Design and construction of type II scale. The type II model 1 scale shall be a low profile, floor mounted model with two access raps. The type II model 2 scale shall be a floor level pit installed model as specified (see 6.1). The scales shall have a 5,000 pound capacity and the weight range shall go from 0 to 5,000 pounds in 1 pound graduations. The platform and ramps shall be constructed of heavy duty carbon steel and shall have skid-resistant raised steel patterns on the surface. The scales shall be 3 to 6 inches high. The platform shall be available in 3 by 3, 4 by 4, 4 by 6, and 5 by 5 approximate feet dimensions. The type II model 1 scale shall be equipped with two 36-inch long minimum access ramps. The width of the ramps shall be compatible with the specified width of the platform. The load cell shall be capable of handling a fifty percent overload without causing damage to the weighing mechanism. The digital indicator shall be remote from the weighing platform. The digital indicator shall be either a plastic enclosed, dust tight, desk mounted model or a stainless steel enclosed, dust-tight, wall mounted model The digital indicator shall be a single display, five digit minimum and shall have the same capabilities and keyboard programmability as the type I scale indicator. The scale shall be furnished with a 50-foot electrical cable that shall be connected from the platform to the digital indicator.
3.3 Installation. The installation and electrical tie-in of the type II scale shall be determined by the ordering agency.
3.4 Warranty. The scales shall be guaranteed against manufacturing defects.
Operating instructions shall be included with each scale.
3.5 Electrical. The scales shall operate on 120 volts, 60 hertz, single phase power source domestically and 220 volts, 50 hertz, single phase for overseas operations. The power consumption shall not exceed 25 watts.
3.6 Standards compliance. The scales shall comply with the National Bureau of Standards Handbook NBS-H44.
4. QUALITY ASSURANCE
4.1 Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description, conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and is the same product sold in the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
5, PACKAGING
5.1 Packaging. The digital scales shall be packaged, packed, and marked in accordance with the domestic or overseas requirements of ASTM D 3951, as applicable.
