3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS.
3.1 Components. The scale shall consist of a calibrated tension spring with a load indicator connected to a shaft extending from one end of the housing. The dial face may be either a linear type or a round type. A load receiving element (hook) shall be attached to the end of the shaft. A method of suspension shall be integrated with the top of housing.
3.2 Materials. The housing shall be of steel, brass, or plastic in accordance with the manufacturer's standard commercial product.
3.3 Tolerances. Tolerances shall be as specified in table II.
