COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
WEIGHT, COMMERCIAL SCALE TESTING, 50 POUNDS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
1. Intended use. This commercial item description covers a test weight for measuring the accuracy of scales.
2. Salient characteristics.
2.1 Design and construction. The weight shall be “U” shaped with a nonremovable pipe handle between the arms of the “U”. The weight shall be one piece cast iron construction with an iron pipe handle. The ends of the pipe shall not be exposed. The weigh and handle combined shall weigh 50 pounds ± 2.3 grams.
2.2 Standard compliance. The weight including the pipe handle shall comply with the weight as specified in the National Bureau of Standards Handbook 105-1, class F.
3. Certification. The contractor shall certify, and maintain substantiating evidence, that the product offered meets the salient characteristics and requirements of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producer’s own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
4. Packaging. The test weight shall be packaged, packed, and marked in accordance with the domestic or overseas requirements of ASTM D 3951, as applicable.
